The 2017 Superbike World Championship is the 30th season of the championship. The season is being contested over 26 races at 13 locations, starting on 25 February at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit in Australia and ending on 4 November at Losail International Circuit in Qatar.
Quest will be airing the races from 6th round of the Championship in Donington Park in Derby on Sat 27 & Sun 28 May LIVE and EXCLUSIVELY from 12 noon until 4.15pm on both days.
The first 3 rounds have proved profitable for the British contingent with the current World Champion, Jonathan Rea, maintaining his position at the top of the table…for now. If Rea takes the top spot once again he will become the first rider to win three consecutive WSB titles. Last year, en route to his second title, he equalled what only three men had done in the previous 29 years of WSB.
One of those was another Briton, Carl Fogarty, on the famous red Ducati machinery he became synonymous with. If Rea can win the title in 2017 he will be only the third rider to win three titles in all. As well as Fogarty, the other rider to achieve this is Australian Troy Bayliss.
Rea may not have things all his own way this season. Chaz Davies on the factory Ducati finished the 2016 in dominant form, winning the last six races and only lost out on the runner-up spot in the championship after Rea let his Kawasaki team-mate Tom Sykes through to secure enough points to pip Davies by only points.
Rea has said it is not making history that motivates him, but beating the competition and winning races. And this year winning races may just be that bit more difficult.
